The assembly consists of an optical sensor and monitoring electronics. The optical sensor monitors the level of oil in the compressor. The oil level is controlled by activating a solenoid valve for filling oil.
It also has a separate alarm contact. The assembly is housed in a nickel plated iron enclosure. The TK5-CO2 oil control optical level switches use electro-optic infrared technology for their operation. They consist of an infrared emitter and an optical receiver. They have an operating temperature range of -20 to 85 deg C.
There are 4 LEDs – 2 Green, 1 yellow and 1 red – that indicate various operating conditions. The first green LED indicates power ON. The yellow LED blinks when oil level is low for more than 10 sec. The second green LED indicates oil level is good when glowing. The red LED is for alarm and indicates oil level low for more than 11 minutes.
The output signals are contact free relay outputs – 24VDC @ 2A and 230VAC @2A.
When the optical level switch does not sense any oil in the crank case, it drives the switches for oil control and alarm output.
The TK5-CO2 oil control optical level switches use 10 micron oil filter to prevent contamination of the sensors.
They can withstand maximum pressure of 60 bars.
The optical lens requires cleaning during major servicing.
TK5 is an obsolete product. Please see our updated TK3 CO2 oil level controller
